Drazen Madaveric

E’ venuto a mancare Drazen Madaveric, detto Madar, Segretario Generale della Federazione Croata di Taekwondo. Pioniere del taekwondo in Croazia, allievo nel 1968 dell’attuale Presidente FITA Sun Jae Park, è stato prima atleta, poi coach della Nazionale Croata, poi dirigente e infine Segretario Generale.
Numerosi i suoi successi in tutte le cariche ricoperte, organizzatore indefesso di eventi sportivi internazionali di altissimo livello, è stato fermato ad appena 59 anni da una malattia incurabile.
La FITA si associa al dolore dei suoi familiari e di tutto il movimento sportivo Croato.

Drazen Madaveric, known by the nickname as "Madar". Distinguished taekwondo expert, 7th Dan, Secretary General of Croatian taekwondo federation, scouting leader, taekwondo competitor, master and coach, sports expert, official and friend pass away in Zagreb after being seriously ill.

He had been born in city of Osijek, 1951. He start to practice taekwondo in the year 1968 under supervision of master Mr. Park Sun Jae. From the beginning as a leader he established Scouts taekwondo section, and Scouts taekwonodo club „Dubrava“ in the suburb Dubrava of city of Zagreb. This, one of the best and the oldest taekwondo sport clubs in the country is working continuously. Between 1974 do 1976 he is competitor, member of national selections participating on all official world and continental championships. He continued as a national coach, and longstanding taekwondo sport official. Under his leadership numerous European and World titles and medals were achieved, among the most precious are Olympic bronze medals of Martina Zub?i? and Sandra Šari? on Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

He had been one of chief of executives of all international sport events hosted by Croatian taekwondo federation: World Cup 1990, European championships 1994, 1996, 1997, World 1999 qualification tournament for Sydney 2000 Olympic games. The last international event was successful organization of European taekwondo championships for kadets 2009, in Zagreb, what make him very satisfied. As taekwondo master-teacher in his club Dubrava and on the level of Croatian national team he raised and educated numerous taekwondo students and competitors. For his serving to takwondo sport he won numerous recognitions. Among them are recognitions of European taekwondo union and World taekwondo federation. For the year 2009 he was awarded with National award for sport "Franjo Bucar“ of Republic of Croatia.
